"Synchrotron Radiation for Cultural Heritage Materials" Webinar

The Society for Archaeological Sciences (SAS) Student Ambassadors organize the webinar "Synchrotron Radiation for Cultural Heritage Materials".

This webinar will explore how synchrotron radiation contributes to the study of diverse Cultural Heritage materials, including ceramics, metals, pigments, and bones. Through selected case studies, we will demonstrate how synchrotron-based techniques, such as X-Ray Fluorescence, X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction, Computed Tomography, offer unique insights into composition, microstructure, and alteration processes that are otherwise inaccessible with conventional techniques.

Building on examples from ongoing research, the webinar will highlight how these analytical approaches help archaeologists, conservators, and heritage scientists answer key questions about technology, provenance, and preservation. The webinar also aims to open a dialogue between cultural heritage researchers and synchrotron beamline scientists, laying the groundwork for future interdisciplinary collaborations.

Part 1 of the series will focus on Synchrotron applications for ceramics and bones, and on Computed Tomography for Cultural Heritage materials.

Nos complace anunciar que del 3 al 6 de noviembre de 2026 se celebrará el Congreso Ibérico de Arqueometría 2026 en la ciudad de Vitoria-Gasteiz, en Álava, País Vasco, España.

Estamos actualizando progresivamente la página web del congreso con nueva información. Por el momento, ya están disponibles las instrucciones para el envío de resúmenes, cuyo plazo de recepción estará abierto hasta el 30 de abril de 2026.

Nos gustaría invitarles cordialmente a enviar sus contribuciones y formar parte de este encuentro científico. Los congresos siempre representan una valiosa oportunidad para compartir investigaciones, generar nuevas colaboraciones y ampliar las redes académicas.

We are pleased to announce that from November 3 to 6, 2026, the Iberian Congress of Archaeometry 2026 will be held in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, in Álava, Basque Country, Spain.

We are progressively updating the congress website with new information. For the moment, the instructions for submitting abstracts are already available, and the submission deadline will be open until April 30, 2026.
